Ashwagandha has been used for over 3,000 years and has become one of the most powerful herbs in Ayurvedic medicine. In Sanskrit, Ashwagandha means “the smell of a horse”, demonstrating the immense power and strength of this herb which is traditionally prescribed for immune health. Although noted as a “ginseng”, the two plants are different, however their value in their respective medicines and therapies is equal.
Ashwagandha is considered an Adaptogen, which is a term used for compounds that modulate the body’s response to stress or changing environments. Containing a blend of withanolides (steroidal lactones), alkaloids, choline, amino and fatty acids, Ashwagandha is dense with nutrients that help to support the immune system and its’ natural therapeutic response of inflammation.
